Police Criticize Stores Amid U.K. Black Friday Disorder – Bloomberg

Officers were called to seven Tesco Plc (TSCO) stores in the Manchester area earlier today, Greater Manchester police said. In London, the Metropolitan Police dealt with calls from three Tesco stores after large crowds gathered. The events of last night were totally predictable and I am disappointed that stores did not have sufficient security staff on duty, Peter Fahy, chief constable of Greater Manchester police, said in an e-mail. This created situations where we had to deal with crushing, disorder and disputes between customers. It does not help that this was in the early hours when police resources are already stretched. Tesco extended Black Friday discounting to stores for the first time today after starting with online sales last year.

Sony confirms development of e-paper smartwatch | PCWorld

I teach life. If you have success, you should use your voice to help those who have no voice. YOU’RE ALSO SO HONEST IN YOUR BOOK ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS FAILURES. I practice honesty. That’s my religion. The TV show is the same thing.

Diane von Furstenberg on ‘House of DVF’ and what it takes to succeed | Boston Herald

No other details about the project were available but the confirmation follows a Bloomberg report that said the watchs face and band will be made of e-paper and serve as a combined display surface. We can confirm that a project team named Fashion Entertainments located in the New Business Creation Department of Sony Corporation is working on prototypes that use electronic paper including a wristwatch, a Sony spokesman in Tokyo wrote in an email. We decline to comment on specifics such as the possible commercialization of this project, or any targeted product launch date. The struggling electronics company refused to give any details about the Fashion Entertainments team other than saying it works on prototypes including e-paper devices. Sony established its New Business Creation Department in April this year in an attempt to foster new products that dont fit into its traditional product categories. Referring to creations such as its tennis sensor , lens-style cameras and 4K ultra short-throw projector , in May it said the new organizations mission is to draw on internal and external insight to provide a catalyst for innovation and to provide the opportunity for new ideas to transition into successful new businesses. In a sign of its importance to Sony, the department is being overseen directly by CEO Kazuo Hirai. It was being run by Hiroki Totoki until he was appointed in October to take over subsidiary Sony Mobile Communications. Sony was an early entrant to the still nascent wearables market, launching its first SmartWatch in 2012.

A Modernist Master, For Kids – Yahoo News

Im a huge fan of recycling clothes and wearing them year-round if you can. The look I’m wearing in the accompanying photo has a lot of layers that will keep you warm, but it also adds some depth and texture. As Ive said before, a good pair of skinny jeans is a great investment because they can be worn throughout every season. I like a pair that stops just above the ankles. If you have a pair that is longer, you can always roll them to get the length you want. I like to pair my skinny jeans with low-rising ankle boots and making sure you can see some skin between the top of the boot and the bottom of your jeans.

Today: One image from his stunning Suppose You Meet a Witch book took us eight days to restore. View gallery . Ammo Books It was time well spent. Despite the vintage nature of the contents, the book feels fresh and contemporary. It reveals Emberleys influence on many illustrators and artists working today, and therefore highlights the value of Emberlys art itself. Before the book, Emberley rarely saw his work in person as it appears here: Owing to the poor aging process of color-separated, production-ready art, the original impact of his art had largely faded.

Mobile Fashion App Strut Is Like Tinder For Discovering And Sharing New Outfits | TechCrunch

Strut is centered around the idea of helping users discover new apparel via mobile that they might want to buy. It does this by presenting them with 50 new pieces of clothing each morning, with a Tinder-like mechanism for swiping left on items they dont like and swiping right on those they do. It uses machine learning to refine the items it presents to users and improves its targeting over time. The idea is that Strut will get (visit site) to know their tastes better and provide clothing options more to their liking the longer that they use the app. If Strut were just about helping users to find new clothes, the app wouldnt be that interesting. What makes it fun is the ability to create outfits around those finds and sharing them with others as part of some collaborative social fashion mashup. In addition to swiping right or left, users can also swipe up.

TAPS Fashion and Full Frames Model Showcase | Jackson Free Press | Jackson, MS

View photo Shoppers walk past a Truworths shop with Sale advertisements on its windows at the Sandton shopping mall JOHANNESBURG (Reuters) – South African clothing retailer Truworths International Ltd issued a trading update on Thursday showing slowing sales growth, sending its shares down more than 8 percent in early trade. Truworths, which also named the head of French retailer Kiabi as its new chief executive, said sales increased 4.7 percent to 3.7 billion rand ($332.2 million) in the 18 weeks ended Nov. 2, well below the 7 percent growth rate achieved in the same period last year. Once among the must-haves in fund managers’ portfolios thanks to credit-fuelled spending in recent years, South African retailers have been among the worst-performing stocks over the past 12 months as credit providers pull back due to rising defaults. There are concerns spending could be further affected in the run-up to the vital Christmas holidays, with analysts seeing rising interest rates. The ratio of household debt to disposable income is already at around 75 percent. Truworths sells about three quarters of its products via its own-store credit cards.
